Community Alert

CSX Railroad has scheduled roadwork on March 19 and 20 that will require a complete street closure at 155th and Halsted. Please plan ahead and use alternative routes during this time. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated.

Beginning Monday, March 10, 2025 – Friday, March 14, 2025, the Clerk’s Office will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC for service upgrades. This temporary closure will allow the department to update and optimize processes and procedures in order to improve efficiencies.  During this time, residents will be unable to access the Clerk’s Office in-person; birth certificates can be obtained at the Markham Courthouse. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Waste Collection Increase

Beginning with your April 1 bill, the monthly rate for garbage service will increase from $26.76 to $29.43—a 10% adjustment. Since 2018, the City has absorbed cost increases from our waste provider without passing them on to residents. However, to ensure continued reliable service, an increase must take effect. We understand that any change in costs can be an adjustment, and we appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions, contact us at 708/210/5300.

ATTENTION!!! The Building Department has a NEW ONLINE LICENSE RENEWAL PROCESS for Fiscal Year 2025-2026.

HARVEY, Ill. (Jan. 6, 2025) — HARVEY, Ill. (Dec. 30, 2024) — Mayor Christopher J. Clark has authorized the use of Harvey City Hall’s council chambers to host the Thornton Township Board of Trustees meeting on December 30, 2024, at 4 p.m.  The decision was made in light of the Township’s current inability to use its building due to a lapse in insurance coverage.

“Thornton Township’s operations directly impact the residents of Harvey, and it is in our best interest to ensure the business of the Township continues without interruption,” Mayor Clark said. “By hosting their meeting at City Hall, we are supporting not only our community but also the larger Township, ensuring stability and progress during this time.”

The City of Harvey is committed to fostering collaboration and providing support to address challenges that affect the well-being of its residents.
